چکیده

The potentials of pilot-symbol-aided channel estimation in two dimensions are explored. In order to procure this goal, the discrete shift-variant 2-D Wiener lter is derived and analyzed given an arbitrary sampling grid, an arbitrary (but possibly optimized) selection of observations, and the possibility of model mismatch. Filtering in two dimensions is revealed to outperform ltering in just one dimension with respect to overhead and mean-square error performance. However, two cascaded orthogonal 1-D lters are simpler to implement and shown to be virtually as good as true 2-D lters.

Block-IFDMA - Iterative Channel Estimation Versus Estimation with Interpolation Filters

In this paper, Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) precoded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDM) with block-interleaved subcarrier allocation per user is considered which is denoted as Block Interleaved Frequency Division Multiple Access (B-IFDMA). The BIFDMA parameter design is affected on the one hand by considerations to reduce the energy consumption by entering a micro sleep mo...

Channel Estimation with Pilot-Symbols over WSSUS Channels

ABSTRACT—We investigate a pilot-symbol based channel estimation scheme that uses a combination of Maximum-Likelihood (ML) estimation and Wiener filtering. Besides the optimum Wiener filter, we also investigate suboptimum Wiener filters which offer a better robustness against path delay time estimation errors and/or have a lower complexity. The mean squared error (MSE) of the channel impulse res...

Modeling the influence of fading channel estimation errors on turbo code performance

In this paper, we address the issue of imperfect fading channel estimation in turbo-coded systems. Since turbo codes are influenced in different ways by different components of channel estimation errors, we develop a simplified model which separates the estimation errors of a Wiener-filtered fading channel into the amplitude error and the phase error. The derivations show that the classical Wie...
